FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: controlled grid is observed at both sides. Observations are synchronised and information is exchanged between terminal substations. A model of the controlled grid with three areas is used. The model determines operations for converting the observed currents and voltages. The first two areas convert the observed signals to voltages of two different assumed damages, as well as to currents transmitted to said points from the terminal substations. The third area converts said voltages to two other currents flowing after the points of damage. Pairs of currents are converted to differential currents of the first and second points of damage. Voltages and currents of each assumed damage are used to determine reactive and active power thereof. Coordinates of both points of damage are determined if both reactive powers transition through zero values and both active powers are not negative.
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities.
