FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy and can be used in production of high-strength constructive and instrumental materials and products, for instance, wire-drawing instruments. Method of obtaining zirconium ceramics consists in the following: zirconium dioxide- based powder material is compacted, compact is placed on substratum of refractory material in vacuum chamber, pressure of residual gases from 5 to 20 Pa is created in said chamber, compact and substratum are heated by electronic radiation to temperature from 1300 to 1350°C, with exposure to radiation at said temperature for not less than 20 min. Temperature of compact from the side of exposure to electronic radiation and from the opposite side is constantly measured during heating and exposure in heated state. Not more than 5°C difference of measured temperatures is ensured by regulation of dose of electronic radiation reaching compact, by changing position of flat screen from refractory material, located between source of electronic radiation and compact, by placement of screen into vertical or horizontal position.

EFFECT: obtaining ceramics with uniformly solid surfaces and uniform mechanical properties.
