FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipe production by electric resistance process. Conveyed metal strip is flexed by forming rollers to produce cylindrical shape and to make strip both ends face each other in direction of width. Said ends are pressed against each other and welded together. Welding set induction coil is arranged nearby metal strip to induce current for heating strip ends. Impeder is arranged inside flexed metal strip upstream and downstream of strip transfer. Plate to shield magnetic induced in said coil is arranged upstream of impeder end and downstream of forming rollers. Said shield plate has a bore to allow cylinder-shaped metal strip to pass there through.

EFFECT: efficient suppression of currents ahead of induction coil.
