METHOD FOR DETERMINING INDICATIONS FOR TREATING HAEMANGIOMA IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B5/00 A61B5/107

SUBSTANCE: there are involved visual examination and palpation; the primary and repeated examinations of the patient suffering haemangioma aim at measuring a haemangioma area, for round haemangiomas by formula $$S={\left(\frac{1}{2}\times d\right)}^2\times \pi ,$$ wherein S is the haemangioma area, cm², d is a diameter of the round haemangioma, cm, π is pi character. For irregular figures, the calculation is approximate with using a squared off transparent film by applying the film of the haemangioma, and deriving the haemangioma area from a sum of the squares covering the haemangioma and square halves to produce two values: S₂ the repeated area measurement, cm², S₁ the primary area measurement, cm². A patient's body area is calculated by formula $$S_{body}=\sqrt{\frac{bodyw./\times height}{3600}}\times \mathrm{10000,}$$ wherein body w. is body weight in kg, height is individual's height in cm to produce two values: S_body2 is the repeated body surface area, cm², S_body1 is the primary body surface area, cm². If the value is $$\left(\frac{S_2-S_1}{S_1}-\frac{S_{body}2-S_{body}1}{S_{body}1}\right)\times 100\mathrm{ex}ceeds\mathrm{10,}$$ the treatment is considered to be necessary.

EFFECT: method enables the objective and accurate determination of the indications for the beginning of treating the haemangioma by specifying the area and diameter of the haemangiomas.
