FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to detect a defective insulating structure, for example an insulator string of a high-voltage transmission line during diagnostics from mobile carriers by automated control systems. The method includes connection to a section of the insulating structure of an electrical light emitter which light intensity depends on the voltage drop at its contacts, registration of light emission, detection of a defect against the light intensity of the emitter, an arrester is connected to the light emitter in parallel additionally and the emitter is installed at a place accessible for observation, at that one contact of the emitter is earthed while the second contact is fixed at the insulating section of the structure.
EFFECT: improving reliability and efficiency of the optical remote diagnostics method for insulating structures at performance of monitoring from mobile carriers, simplifying algorithms of their control automation.
