FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting tool with coating on cutting edge. Coating on cutting tool is composed by cutting edge. Note here that this coating is applied on rear surface (6b) of primary element (6) of edge (5) composed by the area nearby blade cutting edge (2). Note here that said coating features higher hardness than that of the primary element (6). Said coating is applied by electric discharge between said rear surface (6b) and discharge electrode for deposition of electrode material or its reacted substances produced by discharge energy on rear surface (6b). Discharge electrode is made by forming of metal powder, powder of metal compound, powder of ceramic material or the mix thereof. Cutting edge composed by said coating extends outward from the primary element edge (6) represents s transverse rib line between front surface (6a) and rear surface (6b) to distal end side of cutting edge (2). Cutting edge angle makes 10 through 20 degrees.
EFFECT: longer life of cutting edge.
