SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coated cutting tool. Coated cutting tool comprises a base and a coating, wherein the coating comprises a multilayer system consisting of alternating sublayers κ–Al2O3 and TiN, TiC, TiCN, TiCO or TiCNO sublayers, wherein said multilayer system comprises at least three sublayers of κ-Al2O3 and exhibits an X-ray diffraction pattern in the range of scanning angles θ–2θ 15–140°, on which diffraction peak 002 (peak area) is the strongest peak relating to the κ–Al2O3 sublayers of the multilayer system.
EFFECT: cutting tool with such coating has improved wear resistance during turning operation of hardened and unalloyed steel.
