FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to a cutting tool with a wear-resistant coating intended for chip-forming mechanical treatment of metals and its use in steel milling. Said cutting tool comprises a base having a coating comprising a layer α-Al2O3, wherein layer thickness α-Al2O3 is 2–4 mcm. Layer α-Al2O3 has texture coefficient TC (0012)≥7.2, wherein ratio I(0012)/I(0114)≥0.8. Coating additionally contains (MTCVD) MTCVD-layer TiCN applied between the base and the α-Al2O3 layer deposited by the method of medium temperature deposition from the vapor phase. Thickness of MTCVD TiCN layer makes 2–3 mcm. MTCVD-TiCN layer has a polar figure {211}, measured by diffraction of reflected electrons (EBSD) in part of MTCVD-layer of TiCN parallel to outer surface of coating and at distance of less than 1 mcm from outer surface of MTCVD-layer TiCN. Intensity ratio in inclination angle range β≤15° to intensity within range 0°≤β≤45° is greater than or equal to 45 % as measured by pole diagram, based on data of pole figure {211} with angular pitch of 0.25° in inclination angles range 0°≤β≤45° from normal to outer surface of coating.
EFFECT: providing a cutting tool with a coating, having improved wear resistance, high resistance to ulcer wear, resistance to delamination of the coating during plastic deformation of the cutting edge, resistance to thermal cracks during cutting with lubrication or without lubrication and/or increased strength of edge line.
