METHOD FOR EVALUATING SEVERITY OF ACUTE INTESTINAL INFECTIONS IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2525050 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to clinical diagnostics, and can be used for the integrated evaluation of clinical data for the purpose of objective evaluation of a severity of acute intestinal infections in children. A clinical interview is done, a child's examination is conducted, and a cumulative result is evaluated. Symptoms of a disease are pre-grouped taking into account a condition of the symptom adequacy to one of the criteria: involvement of the gastrointestinal and other organs into the infectious process, intensity of the primary clinical symptoms of the disease, objectification of the patient's complaints. Three sets are formed: the first set includes the symptoms according to the criterion of the involvement of the gastrointestinal and other organs into the infectious process; the presence thereof is assigned with 1 point, and the values are summed up. The second set involves the symptoms described by the criterion of the intensity of the primary clinical symptoms of the disease; the intensity of the primary clinical symptoms of the disease are evaluated up to 3 points if observing the severe intensity of the symptom of the disease, and the values are summed up. The third set involves the symptoms according to the criterion of objectification of the patient's complaints; the intensity of the symptom is assigned with 0 points if observing no symptoms, and up to 3 points if observing a severe manifestation of the symptom of the disease, and the values are summed up. The severity of acute intestinal infections in children is evaluated by an integral index of the clinical symptoms. Depending on the obtained integral index, the severity of acute intestinal infections is evaluated as a mild form of the disease, a moderate or severe form of the disease.

EFFECT: method enables providing higher reliability and commonality of evaluating the severity of acute intestinal infections in children on the basis of the integrated clinical approach.
