SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. An image display method comprises colour coding a foreground image in accordance with an intensity spectrum, wherein the transparency of at least a first portion of the intensity spectrum is established and a low level of transparency of at least a second portion of the intensity spectrum, which is controlled through a transparency factor which defines the low level of transparency, is established to form a colour coded foreground image, fusing the foreground image and the colour coded foreground image to form a fused image by adding pixels or voxels of the colour coded foreground image, having a low level of transparency, to the corresponding pixels or voxels of the foreground image in accordance with the control transparency factor, without adding pixels of voxels of the colour coded foreground image, transparency of which is established; and displaying the fused image.

EFFECT: providing a large number of clinically informative multimode image displays.
