FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: to determine friction forces at metal rolling, currents of motor armature winding are measured at different rpm in idling. Motor current and angular velocity at load are measured. Additionally, idling current dependence on motor angular velocity is defined by empirical formula I 0 ( Ω ) to be stored in computer memory. Measured are motor angular velocity Ω(t) and dependence armature winding current I(t) and angular velocity Ω(t) on time at rolling to calculate friction force by formula F ( t ) = c I ( t ) c I 0 [ Ω ( t ) ] 2 R , where c is design constant of motor while R is roll radius.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurements.
