FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of iron or liquid steel semis. Charge materials are reduced, at least partially, in reduction plant R1 by reducing gas. If required at least a portion of partially reduced charge material is fused in melting plant 1 at feed of coal or coke and oxygen-bearing gas to produce reducing gases. Produced or external reducing gas is fed into reducing plant R1. In case production is suspended, at least one reducing plant is unloaded to load at least partially reduced charge materials into one tank 5 to store under non-oxidising protective gas atmosphere for fast and low-cost process suspension.
