FIELD: iron and steel industry; converter steel smelting.
SUBSTANCE: method includes introducing flux into a converter at an amount of 0.5-30.0 kg/t of steel. Flux has the following composition, mas.%: magnesium oxides 40.0-95.0; aluminium oxides 0.1-30.0; calcium oxides 0.5-45.0; silicon oxides 1.0-20.0; iron oxides - the rest. After agglomeration in a rotating or shaft furnace flux can be briquetted with addition of organic and/or mineral compounds and with or without additional introducing of alumina containing material. Flux is introduced into a converter before and/or after metal scrap charging. Flux is introduced into a converter before beginning and/or in the process of metal refining with oxygen. Also flux can be used for residual slag after tapping metal out of a converter.
EFFECT: increased resistance of a scull coating.
