FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: cutting tool comprises a cutting plate with a unit to fix it in a holder fitted by a recess made evenly at the holder end perimeter along the length from its end face to the projecting part with the cutting plate, the holder end with the recess is placed into a metal cup in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with identical gaps to its bottom and walls. The holder is set so that not to get in contact with the said cup. The holder end with the recess is preliminary set in a closed elastic shell from vulcanised material made in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with communicating hollow side walls and bottom. The internal dimensions of the parallelepiped and its height from the inner bottom wall are equal to the dimensions of the holder with the recess and its length, a cylindrical connecting pipe is rigidly fixed in the outer bottom wall, the closed elastic shell with the holder is freely installed in the said cup having a through hole in the bottom with the hole diameter exceeding the connecting pipe diameter, the connecting pipe passes coaxially to the hole in the cup bottom and through it the compressed air is pumped to the bottom and the walls of the closed elastic shell up to its filling of the gaps between the cup and providing for the necessary excessive pressure to form a united mechanical system holder-shell with the pumped compressed air-cup with the possibility of changing the pressure of the compressed air in the closed elastic shell for remote infinitely variable control of the cutting tool stiffness.

EFFECT: improved performance characteristics of a cutting tool, lower labour inputs and time to prepare it for operation and to demount it.
