FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal cutting, particularly to determination of optimum cutting speed at machining of nickel-based refractory alloys for hard-alloy tools. Short-term tests are performed to define cutting temperature whereat ships change from fused state to elemental state. Cutting temperature vs. cutting speed curve is used to define optimum cutting speed.
EFFECT: lower labour input at determination of cutting optimum speed.
