FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: amplitude of anode pulse polarisation voltage UP is measured. Duration τ of voltage drop is detected to the threshold value U1=(0.2…0.8)·UP, and thickness of coating is calculated according to the formula: h=k1+k2·τ, where k1 and k2 - empirical coefficients that depend on nature of processed material and composition of the electrolyte, determined by calibration curves; τ - duration of polarisation voltage drop UP down to the threshold value U1.

EFFECT: increased accuracy in detection of coating thickness in process of plasma-electrolytic oxidation.
