FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle speed determination devices. In the system the processor in the calibration mode identifies on the captured images an attribute of a vehicle, evaluates the size of vehicle attribute in pixels of the captured images, accepts geodetic distance of a vehicle along the road in the moments of image capture, forms the rendition table, correlating the attribute size with the specified geodetic distance, the processor in the verification mode identifies on captured images a vehicle attribute, evaluates the size in pixels of the specified attribute, determines the specified geodetic distance on each image using the calculated sizes as input data of the formed rendition table, determined the vehicle velocity.
EFFECT: improvement of accuracy of vehicle speed determination by its measurement with reference to the road where the vehicle moves.
