FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry. A method for combined plasma-photochemical purification of air from molecular contaminants, which includes trapping coarse particles with a mechanical primary filter, activating the gas by passing said gas through a corona discharge zone to form radicals and ozone, intense oxidation of the molecular contaminants on the surface of a photocatalytic filter, photo-oxidation with decomposition of the trapped impurities under the effect of ultraviolet radiation with wavelength of less than 0.38 mcm on the surface of the photocatalytic filter with a photocatalyst deposited on an air-permeable support, and sorption of residues of oxygen-containing molecular compounds and intermediate oxidation products in pores of an activated carbon filter, the method being characterised by that intense oxidation of the molecular contaminants is carried out with a hybrid catalyst based on titanium dioxide TiO2 and manganese dioxide MnO2 before the photo-oxidation step.
EFFECT: high efficiency and ensuring continuity of the process of purifying air from molecular impurities.
