FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development of a method for photocatalyst production based on titanium dioxide modified with platinum particles, exhibiting activity under ultraviolet radiation in the reaction of carbon monoxide photocatalytic oxidation at room temperature. Photocatalyst is intended mainly for photocatalytic purification of air from carbon monoxide pollution, and of carbon monoxide produced as a byproduct in organic pollutants photocatalytic oxidation. A method for photocatalyst production for carbon monoxide oxidation, which is prepared by adding ethanol and platinum precursor compound into an aqueous suspension of titanium dioxide, mixing, exposre to ultraviolet light, followed by precipitate separation by centrifugation, washing and drying.

EFFECT: carbon monoxide oxidation at room temperature at a high speed.
