FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy, particularly to methods of magnesian flux production. Method of the magnesian flux production includes use of wet magnesite. It is produced by magnesian ore production in borrow pit being mixture of serpentinite (Mg,Fe)3Si2O5(OH)4 and amorphous (cryptocrystalline) magnesite MgCO3 containing from 5 to 25% of amorphous magnesite, serpentinite - rest. At that the amorphous magnesite is separated from the ore - serpentinite - using crushing, sorting, classification equipment, at that size of individual pieces of magnesite shall not exceed 100 mm.

EFFECT: production with minimum energy consumptions and minimum ecological effect of the flux pieces for converter, electric steelmaking and open-hearth methods of steel making with magnesite lining.
