FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of calculation of the extreme values of hydrometeorological environment parameters used during risk assessment of man industrial activities. The first option of the suggested method of determination of the mode characteristics of the wind wave height includes plotting of the probability occurrence function F(W0) as per histogram H(Wi) obtained as per data of long-term time series of wave heights Wi, and further extrapolation of the function F(W0) beyond limits of maximum values of the used series. At that extrapolation of the function F(W0) is performed by means of plotting of the optimal analytic approximation for the histogram H(Wi), that is set in form of the known function of propability distribution density P(W), and as criterion of optimal selection of the function P(W) the condition is applied that relative difference of lower statistical moments of function P(W) from the appropriate moments of the histogram H(Wi) does not exceed average relative error of measurements of values of the series of wave heights. The second option of the suggested method of determination of the mode characteristics of the wind velocity includes plotting of the probability occurrence function F(W0) as per histogram H(Wi) obtained as per data of long-term time series of wind velocities Wi, and further extrapolation of the function F(W0) beyond limits of maximum values of the used series. At that extrapolation of the function F(W0) is performed by means of plotting of the optimal analytic approximation for the histogram H(Wi), that is set in form of the known function of probability distribution density P(W), and as criterion of optimal selection of the function P(W) the condition is applied that relative difference of lower statistical moments of function P(W) from the appropriate moments of the histogram H(Wi) does not exceed average relative error of measurements of values of the series of wind velocities.

EFFECT: invention increases authenticity and facilitates procedure of determination of the mode characteristics of the wind wave heights.
