FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: sample surface is heated and a scratch is made by a cutter on a heated surface of the sample. During scratching the horizontal and the vertical components of the force of resistance to destruction of the heated sample by the cutter are measured. During heating the sample temperature is measured in the zone of heating and contact of the cutter with the sample surface with regulation of heating temperature in case of necessity. The device for determination of material strength profile contains a platform for placement of at least one sample, and the measuring unit containing a cutter for scratching of the sample surface, the heat source for sample heating and device for sample temperature measurement in the zone of heating and contact of the cutter with the sample surface. The platform for placement of samples and the measuring unit are designed with a possibility of movement with reference to each other.

EFFECT: improvement of accuracy and efficiency of determination of mechanical properties of materials at the expense of a possibility of determination of the material strength profile using scratching method at high temperatures of the studied material.
