FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding and can be used for measuring control over weld quality, evaluation of welder qualification and weld material quality. Proposed procedure comprises measurement of weld geometrical sizes with the help of pattern and their comparison with sides set by standing specifications. Measurement results are used to calculate cross-section area of the weld. Sizes set by standing specifications are used to calculate cross-section area of the weld pattern. Now, said areas are compared to calculate the weld surface quality index.

EFFECT: high precision of weld surface quality.
