FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding and can be used for measurement quality control of welded seams, as well as in assessment of welders qualification, quality of welding materials and welding equipment. Method of determining the shape of a standard weld surface is carried out by scanning the surface of the welded joint with a laser triangular sensor. Height and width of weld seam are measured in every cross-section. Capillary constant of melted material is determined from measured values of height and width with subsequent calculation of shape of reference surface of both butt and angular weld in any spatial position according to specified standard documentation dimensions of height, width and area of weld.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of determining the shape of a weld seam surface standard.
