FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: traction electric drive includes at least two traction DC electric motors of series excitation, which are connected to the output of the voltage converter consisting of two rectifiers. Parallel to excitation windings of traction electric motors there connected are excitation current controls made in the form of a resistor block, each of which is connected to the excitation winding through contactors. The first electric motor is connected with a lead of the armature winding to the plus lead of the first rectifier. The lead of the excitation winding of the first electric motor is connected by means of the first additional contactor to the minus lead of the first rectifier. The lead of the armature winding of the second electric motor is connected by means of the second additional contactor to the plus lead of the second rectifier. The lead of the excitation winding of the second electric motor is connected to the minus lead of the second rectifier. The lead of the excitation winding of the first electric motor is connected by means of the third additional contactor to the lead of the armature winding of the second electric motor. The fourth additional contactor connects the plus lead of the first rectifier to the plus lead of the second rectifier. The fifth additional contactor connects the minus lead of the first rectifier to the minus lead of the second rectifier. Power inputs of the rectifiers are connected to individual three-phase variable-voltage generators mechanically connected to thermal engines. Control inputs of three-phase generators, thermal engines and a control chain of all contactors are connected to the corresponding outputs of the controller.
