FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine vitreoretinal traction in peripheral retinal degenerations (PRD). An ophthalmoscopy is performed, and an area of the PRD is detected. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retina and vitreous body is performed in Line mode in the PRD region. A horizontal rectangle with a height of at least 10 pixels is highlighted on the OCT scan in the area of the vitreoretinal interface of the PRD. Within the rectangle, the relative reflectivity of the vitreoretinal interface (RRVI) is calculated from the vertical coordinate of the OCT-scan as an average reflection intensity of white in the grey-scale gradation. A vitreoretinal interface reflectivity index (VIRI) is calculated by formula VIRI=RRVI/256x100%. If its value is 1.32% and more, vitreoretinal traction is determined.
EFFECT: invention provides optimizing the indications for laser retinopexy by determining VIRI.
