FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method and apparatus for simulating formation of vibrio cholerae biofilms are disclosed. The apparatus includes a vessel fitted with spring-like devices made of flexible wire, which is wound in the form of 10 coils at an angle of at least 10-12° to the vertical axis, having diameter of 17 mm. The spring-like device has two arms with a length of 70 mm which can be placed inside and removed from the vessel. The device enables to place cover glasses measuring 20×20×0.6 mm between the coils. The method includes forming a biofilm on the cover glasses. The cover glasses are placed between coils of the spring-like device inside the vessel. The vessel is filled with an experimental medium. A vibrio cholerae suspension is added to the vessel and incubated at final vibrio cholerae concentration of n×108 CFU/ml while reducing to the minimal sensitivity threshold of 0.1 CFU/ml at room temperature.

EFFECT: high efficiency and safety when simulating vibrio cholerae biofilms.
