FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for assessment of cholera vibrio biofilms sensitivity to antibacterial drugs, including biofilm production on glass cylinders. Cylinders with the resulting biofilm are placed on agar in a Petri dish, antibacterial drug solutions at different concentrations are added in the middle of the cylinder. The results are taken into account after 18-20 h of incubation at 37°C by the presence or absence of cholera vibrios growth in the cylinders prints. Cholera vibrios biofilm sensitivity to antibacterial drugs is assessed by the activity index calculated by the formula: where AI is the antibacterial drug activity index; MICs is the maximum MIC of this antibacterial drug for sensitive strains in accordance with MUK 4.2.2495-09; MICb is MIC value of this antibacterial drug with respect to the biofilm of the strain under study. Biofilm sensitivity of the strain under study is directly proportional to the AI index.

EFFECT: accuracy of evaluation of cholera vibrio strains biofilm sensitivity to an antibacterial drug.
