SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles with several axles of driving wheels. In the method to control device of torque distribution between the main wheel axle and auxiliary wheel axle of a motor vehicle where distribution device contains torque distribution drive, control unit and distribution mode selection button giving information reflecting button position, potential fault in selector button operation is detected, herewith, coherence of data reflecting button position is checked. Then, emergency operation mode is activated when fault in operation of selector button is detected in which mode variable is assigned fixed value - a constant. In the emergency operation mode, end of faulty operation is tracked when button position reflecting information coherence is checked, and normal operation mode is activated when end of fault is detected.
EFFECT: reduced inconvenience connected with selector button faulty operation.
