METHOD FOR PREDICTING PROBABILITY OF SEPSIS IN CHILDREN SUFFERING ACUTE INFECTIOUS DISEASES Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2562103 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: clinical signs and risk factors are evaluated; a score value is set for each sign and risk factor. A respiratory rate of more than 50 per a minute in newborns under 7 days of age, more than 40 per a minute in newborns from 7 days to 1 month of age, of more than 34 per a minute in infants from 1 month to 1 year of age, of more than 22 per a minute in children from 2 to 5 year of age, of more than 20 in children aged 5 years and older are recorded. The patient is interviewed and physically examined to detect a digestive function: normal or dysfunction. The patient's age is determined. The presence of a comorbidity is stated. A patient's nutritional status is determined by centile tables. The derived points are summed up, and a probability of sepsis is calculated by means of a statistical model. The obtained result is used to refer the patient to a group of the low or high probability of sepsis or to a group with existing sepsis.

EFFECT: method enables determining the probability of sepsis in the children with acute infectious diseases by evaluating the informative clinical signs and risk factors.
