METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE SEVERITY OF CHILDREN'S CONDITION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2788931 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular pediatrics, anesthesiology and intensive care. The level of consciousness, pulse rate or heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood oxygen saturation according to pulse oximetry and assessment of the presence of concomitant diseases are determined, additionally the state of microcirculation by the capillary refill time, the degree of pain response, the likelihood of an infectious disease are assessed, which are grouped into “corridors” depending on the degree of compensation, and the values of heart rate and respiratory rate indicators are divided depending on age characteristics: children from 0 to 2 years, from 2 to 5 years, from 5 to 12 years and from 12 to 18 years. Each of the 9 diagnostic signs is assigned 0 points for compensation, 1 point for functional impairment, 2 points for decompensation. The points received are summed up. If the sum of points is more than 6, a serious condition is diagnosed, if the sum is from 2 to 6 points, it is moderate, and if the sum is less than 2 points, it is light.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of diagnosing the severity of the child’s condition before conducting a full examination and examination of the child in the absence in some cases of anamnesis, specific changes in laboratory parameters and an obvious threatening condition.
