FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: animal is raised in a pressure chamber, and the recovery time after the descent from the height is registered. The animal is raised to the height of 9000 m without intermediate stops at a speed of 50 m/s. When raising the height is registered, at which there are signs of inhibition of motor activity with the assessment in points. At that the inhibition of motor activity at the height of 4000 m is assessed as 30 points, 5000 m - as 25 points, 6000 m - as 20 points, 7000 m - as 15 points, 8000 m - as 10 points, 9000 m is assessed as 5 points. At the height of 9000 m the animals are kept for 10 minutes. After that, during the descent from the height the height is registered at which the motor activity is resumed with the assessment in points. Resumption of motor activity at the height of 8000 m is assessed as 5 points, 7000 m - as 10 points, 6000 m - as 15 points, 5000 m - as 20 points, 4000 m is assessed as 25 points. After the descent of the animal the neurological tests are carried out, and the recovery time of postural responses is registered with the assessment in points. And the restoration of cortical reflex - the reaction of placement of paws on the support and grasping on the 1st minute is assessed as 1 point, on the 2nd minute - as 4 points, the 3rd minute - as 8 points, the 5th minute - as 12 points, 7th minute - as 24 points, the 10th minute is assessed as 48 points. The restoration of reflex closed at the level of midbrain and pons varolii - reflexes of turning and balance at 1st minute is assessed as 1 point, 2nd minute - as 6 points, 3rd minute - as 12 points, 5th minute - as 24 points, 7th minute - as 48 points, 10th minute is assessed as 96 points. After that the points obtained are added. If the resulting score is 25 points or less, the animals are determined as highly resistant to acute hypobaric hypoxia. If the value of the amount received is 26-70 points, the animals are determined as mid-resistant. If the score is 71-116 points, the animals are determined as low-resistant. If the result is 117-199 points, the animals are determined as unstable to hypoxia. At that, the animals in which seizures are noticed, are determined as unstable to hypoxia irrespective of the number of points.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of the study while reducing the likelihood of hypoxic damage to the central nervous system as a result of testing.
