HIGH-POWER BATTERY SYSTEM AND METHOD TO CONTROL HIGH-POWER BATTERY SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC H01M10/42

Abstract RU 2563576 C2

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to high-power accumulator batteries, in particular, for power drives of transportation vehicles. High-power battery system comprises electronic equipment to control the battery system and plurality of battery modules, each of them containing at least one rechargeable accumulator element, and the above modules are connected electrically in series by operating current line so that during operation operating current passes through the operating current line. At least one of the battery modules is constructed as a buffer battery module comprising bypass switch and bypass line, which are designed so that at re-switching of the bypass switch from normal operating position to bypass position the current passes though the bypass line thus bypassing the battery module. The electronic equipment intended to control the battery system comprises a control unit for each buffer battery module, which controls the assigned battery module and detects fault state of the module. When any control unit detects fault state of the module, the electronic equipment measures current in the operating current line and re-switches bypass switch of the respective buffer battery module (6) from the normal operating position to bypass position when current of less value than the preset limit value passes through the operating current line.

EFFECT: providing control of individual battery modules and their cut-out in case of failure, in particular, for power drives of transportation vehicles.
