FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Iron or steel melt is produced to add ceramic particles thereto, their density being lower than that of said melt to be teemed into mould for said melt to be cooled. During cooling, said mould is arranged horizontally so that ceramic particles are connected on one end side of piston ring. Ceramic particles are selected from the group containing of particles of Al2O3, Cr2O3, Fe2O4, TiO2, ZrO2 and mix thereof.
EFFECT: improved mechanical properties.
