SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a protective element for counterfeit-proof paper, valuable document or the like, with a carrier that has a reflective part of the surface which is divided into a plurality of reflective pixels, at that each pixel area is at least by an order of magnitude less than the area of the reflective part of the surface, at that each pixel has at least one reflective facet which is formed in the surface of the carrier, at that at least one reflective facet reflects the light incident on a surface part along the predetermined direction, directed in a reflection direction predetermined by its orientation, at that the orientations of facets of different pixels on the reflective surface part have substantially random variation.
EFFECT: increase in protection.
