FIELD: printing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a security element for counterfeit-proof paper, valuable document or the like, a valuable document with such security element and also a method of manufacturing such a security element. The security element comprises a carrier with a surface portion divided into a plurality of pixels, each of which comprises at least one facet generating the optical effect. And most of the pixels have several facets generating the optical effect, having the same orientation on the pixel, and the facets are oriented so that the said surface portion is perceived by the observer as a surface which protrudes forward and/or retreats backwards relative to the actual spatial shape of the surface portion.
EFFECT: increase in protection.
