FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, genetic engineering and virology. The structure includes a nucleotide sequence which codes a capsid precursor protein; a nucleotide sequence which codes proteinase, capable of splitting the capsid precursor protein; and a control element which controls proteinase expression. Control is carried out such that when the structure is present in a host cell, the control element causes proteinase expression at a level which is sufficient for splitting the capsid precursor protein, but not sufficient for inducing considerable toxicity in the host cell. A vector and a host cell which include said structure are also described, as well as use thereof to generate empty viral capsids.
EFFECT: disclosed is a structure which, during expression in a host cell, is capable of producing empty viral capsids.
