FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: uterine vessels are temporary compressed at three levels. A laparotomy is performed, and the uterine vessels are ligatured, including: an ascending branch above an internal orifice and an ovarian branch directly at uterine angles from both sides. A middle one-third of the uterine body is additionally ligatured. The above are ligatured by means of short-term absorbable filaments, also securing the uterine muscle, however not penetrating into the uterine cavity. The anterior abdominal wall is closed after being inspected 30 minutes later if showing no signs of haemorrhage.
EFFECT: method provides treating hypotonic haemorrhage by temporary compression of the uterine vessels, making it possible to avoid organ-resecting operations and preserving menstrual and reproductive function in the patient.
