FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric metallurgy of steel using method of iron-rich pellets supply through hollow electrodes to zone of electric arcs, and to surface of meniscus upon these arcs contact with liquid metal under slag. During the pellets supply the arc electric parameters, surface of meniscus, and number of pellets on the surface of meniscus are determined, current speed of pellets loading is determined depending on said parameters, and melting is performed meeting the conditions when current speed of the pellets loading does not exceed speed of their melting, at that during continuous loading of the pellets the heat and energy state of the slag-metal bath is monitored, if necessary current speed of pellets loading is compared and corrected according to speed of pellets loading considering the heat and energy state of the slag-metal bath.
EFFECT: invention ensures loading of the iron-rich pellets under mode of control by PC system of steel melting unit, ensuring high technical and economic melting parameters, and reduces power consumption, reduces dust discharge, and increases good steel production.
