METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF PATHOLOGICAL PROCESS DIRECTION IN PATIENTS WITH CEREBRAL TUMOURS Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC G01N33/53

Abstract RU 2568602 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and can be used in neurosurgery to predict a pathological process direction in patients with homologous extracerebral intracranial tumours. A method for prediction of a pathological process direction in patients with cerebral tumours involves a surgical incision of a tumour followed by a laboratory study; on the 5th postoperative day, a degree of surgical radicality is determined; an immunoenzyme technique is used to measure blood plasma brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) before the surgical intervention and on the 5th postoperative day; if the postoperative BDNF value increases from 2260 pg/ml or more as compared to the initial one, the subtotal tumour incision is stated, and the unfavourable pathological process direction is predicted, whereas the BDNF value of less than 2259 shows the total incision of the new growth with the favourable process direction.

EFFECT: presented method enables detecting the surgical radicality in due time and predicting the pathological process direction, correcting the postoperative surveillance in due time and taking appropriate measures aiming at developing a pathogenetic therapy for preventing the continued tumour growth, as well as helps increase accuracy and specificity of the presented prediction.
