FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for optical labelling of products with subsequent identification of the label in order to protect from forgery and can be used for copy protection of bank documents, plastic cards and identification documents and in computer engineering to prevent falsified copies. The method includes forming an optical label, which is characterised by the presence of inhomogeneities with a random spatial distribution and shape; directing optical radiation on the label; generating spatially modulated radiation intensity distribution of the operating spectral range caused by the presence of said inhomogeneities of the label; reading information on radiation reflection and storing the obtained information in an identification system database, wherein at different times optical radiation is directed on the label from multiple different fixed directions and reflection from the inhomogeneities is detected on different directions.
EFFECT: improved protection from possible copying.
