SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video processing technologies. Disclosed is a method of storing motion vectors of a first reference frame, which are permitted to point to a plurality of additional reference frames. The method includes a step of selecting one of said additional reference frames. Further, the method includes mapping to the selected additional reference frame each motion vector of said first reference frame, which points to one of said additional reference frames, different from the selected additional reference frame, such that after mapping all motion vectors of the first reference frame point to the selected additional reference frame. Motion vectors subjected to said mapping are stored.
EFFECT: reducing the size of memory by mapping motion vectors to one additional reference frame.
