SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Disclosed is a method and apparatus for extracting at least one motion information predictor to encode part of an image by motion compensation. At least two different first and second subsets of motion information predictors of the first set of motion information predictors are provided. Processing of the first subset of the motion information predictors and processing of the second subset of the motion information predictors are performed in order to obtain the final set of motion information predictors applicable for prediction of the said part of the image from the part of the reference image. Processing of the second subset may include removing copies from the number of predictors of movement information of said second subset and may be performed so as to exclude time predictors. At least part of processing of second subset of motion information predictors can be performed simultaneously with at least part of processing of first subset of motion information predictors.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improved efficiency of coding.
