FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: in compliance with this invention, air is fed into cylinder 1 to be compressed therein, fuel is injected, the first compression of the mix of air and fuel is performed to convert said mix into combustible gas mix at idle stroke of piston 2, the second compression of said mix is performed for its ignition, combustion, expansion and discharge of used gases. At piston idle stroke and at that of second compression of gas mix, extra air portion is forced into cylinder 1 at the pressure of 3-4 kg/cm2 via pressure valve 9. Said valve is adjusted to operating mode subjected to used fuel and its required compression ratio. Fuel is injected at the first compression stroke after crankshaft 3 turn through 145-147 degrees from the stroke start. Heavy fuel is injected in two steps, i.e. 90-95% at the first stroke of air-fuel mix compression and 5-10% at the second stroke after the crankshaft 3 turn through 170-173 degrees from the stroke start.
EFFECT: higher engine efficiency at running in different fuels.
