SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an image signal decoding device, an image signal decoding method, an image signal encoding device, an image signal encoding method and a programme, which provide simple image boundary detection dependent on a stream in a bit stream. In a bit stream, an AD (AU delimiter) is inserted at the start position of each AU (access unit), and a DD (dependent delimiter) is inserted on the frame boundary of the dependent stream. The start of the NAL unit is detected by detecting the initial code and the DD, i.e. the frame boundary (start) of the dependent stream is detected by checking if the value nal_unit_type, the start of which was detected, is equal to 18. The present invention can be applied to the device which processes a stereoscopic image signal.

EFFECT: detecting image boundaries in a dependent stream from a bit stream with the prevention of buffer overflow or underflow.
