FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to immunology and medicine, and concerns a method for detecting an autoimmune response to 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A-reductase protein, a diagnostic technique for myopathy, as well as a method for detecting if it is reasonable to prolong a statin therapy in an individual, involving detection of an autoantibody recognising the above protein. What is also presented is a kit for diagnosing myopathy.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to detect and identify autoantibodies in an individual suffering muscle pain and weakness; a necessity to terminate the statin therapy and start a suppressive therapy is first to be detected.
