FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to removal of solid skull from the copper-smelting bale furnace or holding furnace. Claimed process comprises fitting of at least one coherent-jet tuyere in said bale furnace. Said furnace can develop the coherent oxygen fuel gas flow containing the main flow of oxygen gas without nitrogen gas and its flame sheath of fuel and oxygen gas. Said coherent oxygen fuel gas flow is directed from said coherent-jet tuyere toward the solid skull at heat flow rate of 4 million BTU/h to 15 million BTU/h and axial rate of the main oxygen gas flow rate of 75-500 foot a second. Note here that the length of said coherent oxygen fuel gas flow is created to the level sufficient for fusing of said solid skull inside the bale furnace with no collision with the refractory wall. Said tuyere is removed from said bale furnace to turn it for removal the fused skull through the opening. This invention discloses also the skull removal system including abode described tuyere assembly directed toward the sold skull at the copper-smelting bale furnace bottom.
EFFECT: long-term removal, no damages of refractory lining.
