FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to an electrode for electrolytic cells intended for electrochemical processes with gas release, and the above electrode comprises multitude of horizontal lamellar elements, which are designed as flat C-shaped profile and consist of flat back edge and one or more ledges, and between the above flat back edge and one or more ledges there is one free-shaped transient area or more free-shaped transient areas, at that lamellar elements have multitude of feed-through openings. The electrode is featured by even surface of the lamellar elements, without constructive bosses and dents, and the flat back edge has multitude of feed-through openings placed in rows as per diagonal pattern towards each other. The invention is also related to electrolysis method.
EFFECT: usage of the suggested electrode allows excluding unfavourable gas stratification and, in result, uneven distribution of current density in ion-exchange membrane.
