FIELD: physics; nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hydrogen technology and can be used as part of biological defense nuclear power plants. A sample of titanium is subjected to activation followed by saturation with hydrogen. Saturation is carried out at 580-670°C, a hydrogen feed rate to the sample is not exceeding 600 cm3/g Ti per hour. Upon reaching the phase transition β→(β+δ) hydrogen feed rate is maintained at 200 cm3/g Ti per hour. Activation of the sample can be carried out at a temperature of saturation with hydrogen. Maximum pressure of hydrogen is 0.17 MPa. Improving the quality of the compact titanium hydride by eliminating cracks, simplifies the technology by reducing the contact time of the sample compact titanium with hydrogen in 1.9-7.5 times.
EFFECT: improving the quality of the compact titanium hydride, simplifies the technology.
