SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for processing high dynamic range (HDR) image data. Disclosed is a method of processing an HDR image using an integrated circuit (IC) based device. The method includes a step of computing a histogram of logarithmic (log) luminance pixel values in the HDR image. Further, the method includes generating a tone mapped curve based on the histogram. The method also includes computing a log global tone-mapped luminance image based on the log luminance pixel values in the HDR image and the tone mapped curve.
EFFECT: high quality of displayed HDR images.
